Our mission at Japan Roads is to provide a culturally-enriching experience by meeting and getting to know the Japanese people and discovering Japan's rich cultural history.

Japan Roads focuses on slow-paced tours, rather than offering you the typical Japanese package tour, where you visit two cities in one day. While the number of destinations is fewer, Japan Roads tours offer the chance and time to get to know the Japanese people and to experience the Japanese culture in-depth. In addition, Japan Roads tours will take you off the beaten track, to discover places most visitors would never see.

Varied Japanese-style Accommodation
Japan offers a large variety in types of accommodation. These accommodations include shukubo or Buddhist temple lodging, minshuku (a small Japanese inn), ryokan (a traditional Japanese inn), Western style hotels or a home-stay in a Japanese home. By carefully choosing a variety of accommodations for your tour, Japan Roads aims to give you a deeper insight into life in Japan. Furthermore, the intimate accommodation will allow you to have close personal contact with the owners and staff of these places.

Varied Japanese Cuisine
Food is an essential part of Japanese culture. Japan Roads tours offer you the chance to sample a large variety in types of food: from eating with the local Japanese in small diners and trying homemade Japanese meals to sampling full course seafood dinners or some of the refined traditional Japanese cuisine. 

Who is Japan Roads?
Japan Roads is a travel company based in Michigan, USA. Jeff and Yoshimi Aasgaard the owners of Rediscover Travel Inc. (dba Japan Roads) started their first travel business in Japan in October 2000 with Japanese Guest Houses (Rediscover Japan Co., Ltd.), a licensed reservation service (Hyogo Prefecture Travel Agent License Number 3-609) for foreign travelers wishing to stay at a ryokan (Japanese inn). With the growth and expansion of this reservation business, Japan Roads was formed to take this cultural experience to the next level by organizing slow-paced and in-depth tours of Japan. Like their first travel business, Japan Roads offers visitors the opportunity to meet the Japanese people and experience the Japanese culture up close.

The owners of Japan Roads have lived in Japan for many years and realize the importance of learning about culture and meeting people when visiting a foreign country. These intimate, day-to-day encounters will make for lasting memories.
