Climate

Japan has four distinct seasons. The summer lasts from June to the end of September and is hot and humid. During the winter (December – February), it snows a lot on the Sea of Japan side and it is dry on the Pacific Ocean side (Kansai area). The rainy season last for about 40 days in the months of June and July. From August to October there might be typhoons. Usually, April is the best month for cherry blossom viewing though this does change from year to year and from area to area. Cherry blossoms are only in bloom for 1 week or so. You can enjoy the beautiful autumn foliage in late October and November. Also, please be aware that Japan is an earthquake-prone country year-round, and looking up some earthquake safety tips before your trip is a good idea.
